AYSO United

Welcome to the Official Club Program of
AYSO UNITED SOCAL REDLANDS.

AYSO United players are placed in a positive learning environment based on a year-round, player-centered training experience designed to focus on all aspects of player development.

AYSO United SoCal is the registered program of AYSO United that operates within multiple communities in the Southern California area, including Redlands.
Each AYSO United player is exposed to our year-round periodization program designed to allow players to reach their fullest potential while enjoying meaningful games through competitive league play and appropriately selected tournament play.

Each AYSO United Coach is supported by a Director of Coaching and our SoCal Technical Director, with exclusive access to cutting edge curriculum and training support designed to enhance the AYSO UNITED Player experience.

For questions regarding AYSO United SoCal please contact our General Manager, Anthony Fulton, at [email protected].

TRAIN- "TEAM TRAINING PROGRAM AND PERIODIZATION"

Our club has designed a 52-week program to help players reach their fullest potential with periodization breaks. Each team will train twice a week with their club coach, who will use effective training methods and the AYSO Philosophies to ensure that our players are placed in an enjoyable, developmentally appropriate environment.

Our club will take breaks* during Spring Break and Thanksgiving week as well as breaks during the Summer and Winter (HS Season) to allow our players ample recovery time throughout the year and enjoy other facets of their youth.

DEVELOP- "PLAYER DEVELOPMENT PRIORITIZATION"

Built on the foundation of the organization’s Six Philosophies, AYSO United flips the soccer building blocks by prioritizing a player’s development, which is designed to meet the technical, tactical and psycho-social needs of our players.

AYSO United is committed to provide a player-centered learning environment which allows each player to reach their own personal development goals.

Each player is guaranteed to play at least 50% of each game which ensures both a positive youth soccer experience and an opportunity to develop their game.

COMPETE- "MEANINGFUL GAMES"

Our Club teams compete in the competitive soccer leagues during the fall. The Director of Coaching and club coach will determine appropriate tournament play events* (3 per year) in addition to State Cups, AYSO United Friendlies, The Sigi Schmid AYSO Open Cup and scrimmages against other clubs.

*Spring League or futsal may replace a tournament play. (please note this is included in the club fees)

COMMON FAQ'S

WHAT IS A PLAYER-CENTERED LEARNING ENVIRONMENT?

At AYSO United we feel that players learn the most when they are in a player-centered environment. This starts with a positive relationship with the coach through positive coaching as well as open an honest dialogue and feedback. Each coach is supported by our own bespoke educational platform, The Coaching Manual, which provides the coaches with resources and tools to deliver quality training sessions that are age appropriate. Each training session and game play should be both challenging and fun which will allow the AYSO United player to both learn and enjoy the sport.

We believe that a player’s development is ultimately in the player’s hands, and AYSO United will provide the best environment and coaching support to ensure each player reaches their maximum potential.

DOES AYSO UNITED HAVE A CURRICULUM?

AYSO United provides our coaches with both session and season plans, however each coach has different circumstances that they must adapt to in their own environment. Our AYSO United Technical Team is made up of UEFA ‘A’ and USSF ‘A’ Licensed educators believe that players should be taught key concepts, however we understand the need for coaching creativity in their own environments. As any club we are constantly evaluating our methodology to ensure we are providing our coaches and players with the resources needed.

HOW DOES AYSO UNITED DEFINE SUCCESS?

AYSO United enjoys winning as much as the next club, however it is the manner in which we obtain the victory that is important. Our clubs take pride in player retention as we celebrate those players that are in our program from their Core program experiences all the way through their AYSO United experiences.

WHY OPEN TRAINING VS. TRYOUTS?

Our AYSO United Open Training Events take the place of ‘formalized tryouts’, creating a positive environment for players to truly express themselves and allow our coaches to accurately identify players for our AYSO United teams for the upcoming season. We believe that players thrive when they are placed in safe, comfortable environments and the open training concept creates that. Our club practice environment will also allow our families to experience our club and interact with other families to decide if we are the right fit for their player.

Once a player commits to AYSO United, AYSO United commits to that player.

AYSO UNITED ID 64 PROGRAM- PURPOSE?

The Identification 64 Program (ID64) pays homage to the year the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) was founded and builds upon the principles of placing players on the highest-level teams possible. The ID64 Program is designed to identify AYSO United’s top-level players with the objective of exposing them to elite training and an advanced player-centered environment.

WHY ID64?

ID64 is an important component of our AYSO Player Pathway, providing the AYSO player the opportunity to play at all levels whilst enjoying the game under our core Six Philosophies. ID64 is not only part of our rich history, but part of our exciting future of developing top youth talent.

WHAT AGE DIVISIONS DOES ID64 COVER?

ID64 will be open to our foundation age players in our 10U, 11U, 12U and 13U Divisions. For the 2019-20 Season, this ID64 will include 2009, 2008, 2007 and 2006 Players. Our High-school aged players will be supported through our College Prep Program.

WHEN DOES THE ID64 PROGRAM TAKE PLACE?

The ID64 Program is broken down into three periods; the identification phase, training camps and match play.

  • The identification phase begins in June and runs through the middle of January.
  • Training camps will be held in February, March and April.
  • Match play will take place in April and May.

HOW ARE PLAYERS IDENTIFIED FOR ID64?

ID64 Players will be identified through our 4-phase identification process.

  • Scouting Network – ID64 Scouts and talent identifiers will be attending games and tournament play throughout the June – January identification period. Players identified will be sent to the ID64 Director for tracking. **Please note; you may not know a player has been identified through the scouting network, as this is an internal mechanism for ID64 to track top players before the open training events.
  • Coach Recommendations – AYSO United coaches can recommend players at any given time to the ID64 Director ahead of the open training events. Often this is the best place to identify players as they are more comfortable in their own training environment. Players may be recommended through our Player Recommendation Form.
  • Fee-based Camp Program – Throughout the summer, ID64 (3-Day) Camps are available in select locations. These camps will allow players to train with our coaching staff and receive an evaluation based on their training performance. These camps will allow the technical staff to identify top players in a condensed training environment, while players enjoy the camp experience.
  • Open Training Events – These will take place in December and January throughout multiple locations in Southern California. These open training and match play events will allow the coaching staff and technical team to identify the ID64 Squads ahead of the training camps in February.

WHAT ARE THE KEY PLAYER QUALITIES WE LOOK FOR IN AN ID64 PLAYER?

Game understanding and advanced decision making – read, analyze and understand the game and make autonomous decisions.

  • Initiative – Take initiative, be proactive.
  • Focus – Focused for the duration of the game on his/her task.
  • Optimal Technical Abilities – Optimal technical abilities to execute their task for the duration of the game.
  • Optimal Physical Abilities – Optimal physical abilities to execute their task for the duration of the game.
  • Responsibility – Take responsibility and accountability for their own development and performance.

WHO ARE THE ID64 COACHES?

ID64 Coaches are comprised of high-level AYSO United Head Coaches from our national club teams. Coach applications for ID64 teams open up in August and are open to any current AYSO United Head Coach. Each ID64 Team will have two coaches as part of the Open Training events in December and January and will run the training camps in February, March and April.
